W&W | AFCO Steel is an international company that works in all regions of the United States and strategically throughout the world. We execute projects of any size across all market segments in the construction industry. These market segments fall into three main building categories: Bridges, Commercial Buildings and Industrial.
The more complex the project is, the more our clients understand the value we bring. The depth of our expertise is unmatched; our preconstruction, engineering, detailing and project management strength with unparalleled fabrication and installation capacity allow us to act as a true steel trade partner.
W&W | AFCO Steel has a rich, continuous history that dates to 1909. The strategic combination of four major companies into one; W&W Steel, AFCO Steel, Hirschfeld Steel & Carolina Steel establishes us as the national leader in Bridge, Commercial and Industrial work.
Our past success and current scale are because of the leadership provided by one of our company’s patriarch’s, Bert Cooper. Bert led us through a key strategic growth period that ultimately resulted in the company we are today.
W&W | AFCO Steel leverages the individual strengths and collective production capacity of 17 strategically located facilities to both reduce man hours per ton and respond to accelerated project schedule requirements.
Everyone at W&W | AFCO STEEL has an individual responsibility to make safety foremost in all that we do. No business objective is so important that it will be pursued at the expense of safety.
Structural Steel is the most sustainable building framing material in construction. With a high strength to weight ratio and low carbon footprint, Structural Steel buildings and bridges result in a lower embodied carbon as compared to other framing materials. And while other materials can often only be downcycled, Structural Steel can be recycled with negligible quality degradation.
